4.7.38 Side slope test. To determine conformance to 3.5.3, the semitrailer shall be operated on a 20% slope as specified with each specified truck-tractor.
4.7.39 Fording test. To determine conformance to 3.5.4, the semitrailer shall be operated in a water depth as specified. After the fording operations, the wheel bearings and electrical components shall be checked for water contamination.
4.7.40 Performance test. The semitrailer shall be tested to determine conformance to the requirements specified by 3.5, 3.5.1, and 3.5.9.
4.7.41 Gradeability test. The semitrailer shall be tested to determine conformance to the requirements specified by 3.5.3.1.
4.7.42 Safety check. The semitrailer shall be checked to determine conformance to the requirements specified by 3.6.1. Ambient temperature and weather conditions only.
4.7.42.1 Safety test. The semitrailer shall be tested to determine conformance to the requirements specified by 3.6.1.
4.7.43 Human factors engineering test. The semitrailer shall be tested to determine conformance to the requirements specified by 3.6.2.
4.7.44 Servicing and adjustment check. The semitrailer shall be checked for servicing and adjustments to determine conformance to the requirements specified by 3.13.
4.7.45 Workmanship check. The semitrailer shall be checked for departures from workmanship requirements specified by 3.14.
4.8 Inspection of packaging. Inspection of packaging shall be accomplished to assure conformance to the requirements specified in 3.13, and section 5 of this specification.
5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5.1 Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking for the desired level shall be in accordance with the applicable packaging requirements, and MIL-V-62038 as specified by the contracting authority (see 6.2).
6. NOTES
6.1 Intended use. The semitrailers covered by this specification are of the heavy-duty type used by commercial construction companies engaged in the transport of heavy engineer construction equipment and material associated with construction operations as depicted in appendix A. The semitrailers, coupled with truck-tractors M916, 6x6 has a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 160,000 lb, and M920, 8x6 has a GCWR of 130,000 lb.
