3.10.1 Instructional markings. Markings, such as tire pressure, tiedown points, center of gravity (empty), etc. shall be applied to the semitrailer in block letters or numbers from 7/8 to one inch in height.
3.10.2 CARC marking. All semitrailers shall have the word "CARC" painted in block letters in a conspicuous location as near to the data plates as practical. Height of block letters shall be in the range specified in 3.10.1.
3.10.3 National symbol. A three inches star shall be applied on the semitrailer in accordance with MIL-STD-642.
3.10.4 Temporary and concealed markings. When specified (see 6.2), all semitrailers supplied to foreign nations shall have temporary markings. Semitrailers requiring temporary or concealed markings shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-642.
3.11 Data plates. Metal data plates shall be provided in accordance with type I, for identification plates, or type III, general use, composition C of MIL-P-514, shall be photosensitive aluminum in accordance with type I, class I of GG-P-455 and shall have a black background.
3.11.1 Lubricants. Military equivalent of commercial lubricants shall be depicted on a plate conforming to SAE J753 installed in a readily accessible area of the gooseneck. The plate shall indicate ambient temperature range for the various lubricants.
3.12 Lubrication. Lubrication means shall be provided for all moving parts requiring lubrication. Grease lubrication fittings shall conform to SAE J534. Lubricants shall be selected in accordance with SAE J754. The selected multipurpose lubricant (MPL) shall be functionally conforming to MIL-L-2105, the multipurpose grease with molybdenum disulfide (MPGM) shall
be conforming to MIL-M-7866 and the multipurpose grease (MPG) shall be conforming to
MIL-G-10924.
3.13 Servicing and adjustment. Prior to delivery, the manufacturer shall service and adjust each semitrailer for customer operational use, including at least the following:
a. Inflation of all tires.
b. Adjustment of the brakes.
c. Proper functioning of all lights. d. Complete lubrication.
3.14 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of such a quality which will assure that the vehicle and its components are free of defects that compromise, limit or reduce the capability of the vehicles system in the performance of its intended use. Bolted and riveted construction shall be secure in accordance with its intended use. All fuels, lubricants, and hydraulic fluids shall be provided clean and filtered in accordance with their intended use.
