3.7 Rustproofing. Corrosion preventive compound shall be applied to the trailer in accordance with MIL-R-0046164 (see 4.8.13).
3.8 Safety. No condition shall exist which may create a safety hazard to operating or maintenance personnel (see 4.8.14).
3.9 Servicing. The trailer shall be adjusted for immediate operation and shall be serviced for the climatic conditions prevailing at the delivery point. Servicing shall be compatible with processing for shipment as specified by the acquisitioning activity (see 4.8.15 and 5.1).
3.10 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of such quality as to assure that the trailer and its components are free of defects that compromise, limit, or reduce the capability of the trailer in the performance of its intended use (see 4.8.16).
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements
specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4.1.1 Inspection equipment. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the supplier is responsible for the provision and maintenance of all inspection and test equipment necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to contract requirements. Commercial, modified commercial, or supplier designed inspection equipment or measuring set-ups must be capable of repetitive measurements to an accuracy of 10 percent of the component tolerance.
4.1.2 Materials and construction. To determine conformance to 3.3 through 3.4 inspection, test, and material certification records shall be maintained by the contractor. Records shall be subject to review by the Government. Records shall include date, part, or characteristic identification, inspection results, disposition of lot (accepted or rejected), and corrective action taken on noted defects.
4.1.3 Parts and components. Parts, components, and assemblies shall be inspected in accordance with the drawings subordinate to the appropriate semitrailer drawing (see 2.1.2). When applicable, inspection shall be in accordance with Supplementary Quality Assurance Provisions (SQAPs) or Quality Assurance Requirements (QARs).
