Failure to complete the test, inability to operate and function as specified herein, or nonconformance to 3.3 thru 3.3.3 and 3.9 table III shall constitute failure of this test.
4.5.2.3 Brake test. Test the semitrailer for conformance to the DOT Standards and Regulations, the California Vehicle Code, and to the requirements specified herein. Tests shall be conducted with rated payload, unless different loading is specified.
(a) Tow the semitrailer over the test course and, when the semitrailer reaches the required speeds, conduct service, emergency, and parking braking ability tests in accordance with both the DOT and the California Vehicle Code procedures and requirements.
(b) With the semitrailer stopped on a paved surface, uncouple the truck-tractor brake
lines from the semitrailer and bleed down all semitrailer air reservoirs. Determine by the drawbar pull method or on actual grades the maximum holding ability of the semitrailer emergency-parking brakes. Release the emergency parking brakes using only tools supplied with each semitrailer or truck-tractor and without resupply of compressed air.
(c) Test the semitrailer airbrake system as specified in TTMA RP No. 12 and
RP No. 44, including anti-lock, when legally DOT required and furnished.
Failure to complete the test, inability to function and operate as specified, or nonconformance to
DOT, the California Code, to 3.3 thru 3.3.3 and 3.9, table III, shall constitute failure of this test.
4.5.2.4 Dump semitrailer operation. With the semitrailer coupled to the truck-tractor, operate the semitrailer as follows:
(a) Perform dump cycles of loading, hauling and dumping of sand and aggregate, load to specified payload (refuse specials, substitute refuse and rubble).
(b) Tow the loaded and the empty semitrailer over a route subject to the approval of the contracting officer to and from the dump site.
(c) Dump the payload.
(d) Load, haul, dump, and return haul the semitrailer in operation (a) through (c) for not
less than one 8-hour-work-shift.
(e) Load the semitrailer with crushed rock or stone, graded 3-inch-minus, to specified
payload with a material free fall height of at least 3 feet above the body floor. (f) Load with a scoop loader.
(g) Load from an overhead bin or hopper.
