3.15.8 Machine work. All machined parts shall be manufactured to gage through the use of correct jigs and fixtures and shall permit interchangeability of these parts.
3.15.9 Cleanliness of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The hydraulic and pneumatic systems shall be purged to remove any foreign material after the appropriate assembly phase is completed. The sequence of purging shall be first through the lines and then second through both, the lines and the components.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4.1.1 Government vertification. Quality assurance operations performed by the contractor will be subject to Government verification at unscheduled intervals. Verification will consist of observation of the operations to determine that practices, methods, and procedures of the contractor's inspection are being properly applied. Failure of the contractor to promptly correct product deficiencies discovered shall be cause for suspension of acceptance until corrections have been made or until conformance of product to specification criteria has been demonstrated.
4.1.2 Component and material inspection. The contractor is responsible for insuring that components and materials used are manufactured, examined, and tested in accordance with the referenced documents.
4.2 Classification of inspection. Inspection shall be classified as follows: (a) First article semitrailer inspection (see 4.3).
(b) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4).
(c) Inspection of packaging for delivery (see 4.6).
4.3 First article semitrailer inspection. Prior to examination or tests, the semitrailer shall be lubricated with lubricants specified in 3.12, and tires shall be inflated to T&RA recommended pressure. The hydraulic system shall be filled with oil specified in 3.7. Prior to examination and test, the semitrailer shall be run-in in accordance with the contractor's standard procedure. No maintenance shall be performed on the semitrailer throughout the test specified in 4.5.2, except scheduled maintenance specified in the dump semitrailer manuals.
4.3.1 Examination. The semitrailer shall be examined for the defects marked "X" in column 1 of table IV. Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
