Brakes.
Per DOT FMVSS, DOT FMCSR, and California Vehicle Code. Straight air service and emergency-parking system. System withstand severe service including high speed, off-road, and mountainous travel and including creek bed immersion usage. Provide priority to brake system over any auxiliary air system use.
Disc - Brakes.
High heat sink type having cooling features.
Rear Brakes & Drums.
Disc type or wedge or S-cam drum type.
Components protected from damage.
All components located above the bottom of the brake disc or
brake drum.
Discs, wedges, cams and roller pins, as a minimum, phosphate
coated, stainless steel, or hard chrome plated and having silicone high temp compound on brake bearing surfaces (except wedges and S-cams and rollers) to prevent corrosion malfunction. Provide drum forward rotation and S-cam rotation in the
identical direction on all axles.
Anchor-Rear Brake Shoe.
Drum brakes of single or double anchor type providing ease of maintenance features.
Lining - Rear Brake.
Lining per SAE J866, Code EE, EF, or FF, having identical
friction value on all lining segments;
Lining selected from the FMS Automotive Data Book. Lining
rated per DOT procedures and technically for the logging vocation or mountainous duty service.
Wet lining fade not less than 65-percent of the dry friction baseline value, per SHE J786 test code.
Drum - Rear Brake.
Drum brakes of outboard mounted type providing brake
maintenance capability without hub removal.
