MIL-PRF-46756E(AT)
3.4.2.2 Electrical circuits. The electrical circuits shall maintain continuity from end to end
without any shorts from pin to pin and from pin to connector shell. All electrical cables and
wiring shall be anchored in such a manner to prevent any damage to cables and wiring during all
semitrailer operating conditions (see 4.6.4).
3.4.3 Body air leakage. The van body shall be so constructed that when all doors and
openings are closed, the body shall be airtight to the extent that air pressure of not less than
0.5 inch (in.) of water column pressure will be developed within the semitrailer when air at 100
cubic feet per minute (ft3/min) and at 50 pounds per square inch (psi) is forced from outside of
van body to the inside (see 4.6.5).
3.4.4 Waterproofing and sealing. The van body shall be capable of protecting the
equipment installed in its interior from rain blowing at the rate of 4 in. per hour with water
droplets averaging 0.1 in. diameter (minimum 0.06 in.) and impinging upon the vehicle at any
angle between 0 degrees and 45 degrees from the vertical for 30 minutes. No rain water is
permitted to enter the interior of the van body. Openings required to be open during operation of
the interior equipment (e.g., air conditioners) must be provided with covers and side flaps
preventing rain at a maximum angle of 45 degrees from the vertical entering the van (see 4.6.6).
3.4.5 Adjustment mechanisms. All adjustment mechanisms shall function properly and
maintain adjustment settings during all semitrailer operating conditions (see 4.6.7).
3.4.6 Controls. All electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic controls shall operate without
malfunction throughout all ranges of operation under all semitrailer operating conditions
(see 4.6.8).
3.4.7 Air, hydraulic lines and fittings. Provisions shall be made to assure internal
cleanliness of air lines, hydraulic lines, and fittings prior to connection and initial use of
semitrailer. All air and hydraulic lines and connections shall be free of leaks. All air and hydraulic
lines and fittings shall be anchored in such a manner to prevent any damage during all semitrailer
operating conditions (see 4.6.9).
3.4.8 Lifting attachments. The semitrailer shall be provided with lifting attachments
which shall be structurally sound to lift the semitrailer with rated payload (see 4.6.10).
NOTE: Spreader bar used for lifting; spreader bar not furnished with vehicle.
3.4.9 Tiedown devices. The semitrailer shall be provided with tiedown devices sufficient
in number and structurally sound for transporting by rail, sea, and airborne operations
(see 4.6.10).
