use with air brake equipped towing vehicles. The kits shall be boxed, marked as to contents, and securely stowed in the trailer for shipment.
* 3.4.6.2 Wheel chocks. Four wheel chocks shall be provided. Wheel chocks shall be secured to the trailer with corrosion-resistant chains. Provision for stowage in their respective areas shall be provided.
3.4.7 Electrical systems. The trailer shall be provided with 12-volt direct current (dc) and
120-volt alternating current (ac) electrical systems. A 120-volt ac and a 12-volt dc interior
lighting system, including 120-volt ac convenience outlets, shall be provided. Exterior lighting system shall be 12-volt dc and shall conform to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
393.14, 393.19, 393.20, 393.22, 393.23, 393.25 (a, b, c and d), and 393.27 through 393.33. Lights and reflectors shall not be mounted on vehicle bumpers. Turn signal lamps shall conform
to SAE J588. All 12 and 24-volt wiring shall conform to SAE J1292. All 120-volt ac wiring shall conform to the National Electric Code.
3.4.7.1 12-volt electrical receptacle. A trailer electrical receptacle with a spring-loaded cover assembly shall be installed on the forward end of the drawbar. The receptacle shall conform to SAE J560, with conductors connected and color coded as specified in SAE J560.
* 3.4.7.2 Brake wiring. Electric brakes shall be wired to the auxiliary circuit of the SAE J560 seven-conductor electrical connector. When a 24-volt receptacle system is furnished
(see 3.4.7.5), means shall be provided to reduce the voltage of a tactical military design towing
vehicle for proper operation of the electric brakes. All wiring shall be properly mounted and secured with clamps. Wiring shall be heavy wall thermoplastic insulated cable and shall be enclosed in conduit.
* 3.4.7.3 Electrical jumper cable. A pre-coiled electrical jumper cable conforming to
SAE J1067, with a cable plug at each end conforming to SAE J560, shall be provided. Both
plugs shall be equipped with a grip for withdrawing from connector sockets. Stowage provisions having an anti-theft feature and means of hanging the cable with the plugs pointing down shall
be provided. The fully extended cable shall be not less than 910 mm (3 feet) longer than the distance from the trailer electrical receptacle to the lunette or ball hitch.
* 3.4.7.4 Battery. The trailer shall be furnished with not less than one heavy duty, deep cycle type, 12-volt battery. Battery(s) shall provide sufficient power for the 12-volt dc interior electrical system and shall have a total capacity of not less than 105 ampere hours at a 20 hour rate. Battery(s) shall be designed for deep discharge cycles. Provisions for charging the battery(s) from the towing vehicle, from the 120-volt ac electrical system, and the
