MILITARY SPECIFICATION SEMITRAILERS, TANK: GENERAL PURPOSE WATER,
7580 AND 15 160 LITERS (2,000 AND 4,000 GALLON), MODIFIED COMMERCIAL
This specification is approved for use by the US Army Tank-Automotive Command, Department of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers 7580 liter (L) (2,000-gallon), single axle and 15 160 L (4,000-gallon), tandem axle, tank type semitrailers for the transportation of nonpotable water. Vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items that are required to be warranted by the manufacturer as specified in acquisition documents.
1.2 Classification. The semitrailer shall be one of the following types, sizes and classes, as specified (see 6.2):
Type I - Forced discharge. Type II - Gravity discharge.
Size 2 - 7580 L (2,000 gallon), single axle. Size 4 - 15 160 L (4,000 gallon), tandem axle.
Class 1 - Uninsulated. Class 2 - Insulated.
