This commercial item description covers commercial, heavy-duty, adult industrial tricycles designed for use in industrial plants, warehouses, hospitals, and offices.
Salient characteristics:
Minimum cargo payload of 75 lb. Bell or bulb-type horn as warning device. Industrial tricycles must comply with Consumer Product Safety Standards for Bicycles, Title 16 and shall be labeled and bear instructions in accordance with sections 1512.19 and 1512.50 of same.
Style A - Single speed, utilizing manufacturer’s standard rear wheel hub assembly with standard sprocket ratio.
Style B - Three-speed, utilizing the manufacturer’s standard shifting mechanism and rear wheel hub assembly.
Accessories. Any of the following items, as specified by the ordering agency, shall be furnished:
Basket, front, minimum size: 15 by 20 by 9 inches.
Basket, rear, minimum size: 15 by 20 by 9 inches.
Rear load platform (wood or steel as specified), minimum size: 20 by 22 inches.
Rear load box, minimum size: 20 by 21 by 4 inches.
Steel cabinet, rear, locking, minimum size: 14 by 27 by 15 inches.
Praking brake.
Puncture proof tires, foam filled or solid rubber as specified.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing and marking. The industrial tricycles shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed in manner that will assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contract or order.
Note. When ordering, purchaser should select the preferred style and accessories and color, if other than manufacturer’s standard required.
